Don't Rush The Process
Have you ever noticed how much of life we spend trying to hurry through the very seasons God is using to mold and shape us? Maybe it's because they're painful. Or uncertain. Or simply taking longer than we hoped.
We want to get to the other side—to the answer, the healing, the breakthrough, the celebration.
Trust the process.
Cliché? Maybe. But there's a reason some phrases endure. And when God is the one leading the process, trusting it becomes an act of faith.

That phrase has stayed with me these past several weeks as I'm stepping into a new season. I'm learning to trust that God sees the path even when I can't.
Because faith isn't understanding every move God is making, it's believing He is faithfully leading us—even when we can't yet see where the path ends.
"Trust in the Lord with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths." Proverbs 3:5-6
You might know that a couple of years ago, God placed on my heart the directive to write again.
I have always been a writer, my whole life. I've written many unpublished things, some published pieces, too. I even went to college to get a degree in writing after I finished acting school, but ultimately that got placed on the back burner while I worked on my television career, and then focused on raising my child.
But God persisted in His pursuit of my heart.
I listened.
I wrestled.
Eventually, I said yes.
I didn't want to write the story He was asking me to write. It was too personal, too "much", too messy. I feared people would misunderstand (and I still fear that!)
I was afraid, but I did it anyway.
Writing this book, Chosen For This, never was a straight "A" to "B" path. I wrestled with parts of my past, how to tell the most authentic story and navigate the delicate places that involved people I love.
There were tears.
There were deep conversations with God.
There were personal revelations.
There was uncertainty.
There were doors that closed ... and doors that opened.
There was a lot of editing and refining.
And there were many wonderful, deep things I learned about myself, about my calling and most importantly, about God.
Every chapter required honest reflection
Every edit required vulnerability.
Every closed door required trust.
Every uncertainty required deeper faith.
Every delay required surrender.
Looking back, I can see that He cared just as much about the author that He was shaping, as the story He was asking me to tell.
So even if no one ever reads this book, I know that I honored His request and became more intimately in tune with my Creator, my Father ... the one who guides my steps.
I had to really learn how to do something my mother had always advised: run the race with blinders on.
It's easy to start looking around at what everyone else is doing ... but then you miss what God is doing. And God was working on building something with me. It didn't unfold in the timeline that I expected and that makes me laugh. Because, of course it didn't.
It unfolded in exactly the way God meant for it to.
This week—after a year and a half of writing, praying, editing, waiting, and trusting—I signed a publishing contract for my book, Chosen For This, a faith-filled story of motherhood, autism, caregiving, and God's faithfulness in life's hardest seasons.

I cried. I celebrated, and I thanked God.
Not because I finally "made it," but because I could suddenly see God's fingerprints all over the journey that had often felt uncertain while I was in the middle of it.
Signing the contract wasn't the prize ... it was simply another milestone.
The real prize was becoming the woman who trusted God enough to keep saying yes.
There is still work to be done. But standing here at this milestone and looking back, I can clearly see how faithful God has been every step of the way. The destination changed my circumstances, but the process changed me.
I've learned to trust God more deeply, to recognize His voice more clearly, and to become sensitive to His leading.
"My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me." - John 10:27
Whatever process you're walking through today—a health journey, caretaking for someone you love, waiting on a prayer to be answered, rebuilding after loss, beginning something new, or simply being faithful in the season God has you in—I hope you resist the urge to rush it.
Because if you rush it, you'll miss the sweet parts in the middle—that's where all the realizations and growth happen!
If you're in a season that feels slow ...
Keep walking.
Keep trusting.
Keep showing up.
Keep saying yes.
One day, you'll look back and realize that what felt like waiting was actually God preparing you for what He had planned for you all along.
Don't rush the process. Trust the process ...
Because you can trust the God who is leading you through it.
