Re-Aligning & Re-Focusing in the New Year

As we step into a new season, it's so easy to get swept up in the whirlwind of resolutions and big promises we make to ourselves. But in my heart, I feel called to focus on something a little different: realigning and refocusing, rather than just resolving.
In our journey as women—whether it's marriage, parenting, career, or growing deeper in our faith—it's not about adding more to our plate or setting lofty goals. It's about gently bringing our focus back to what truly matters: our relationship with Jesus, the love we share with our family and friends, and the small, faithful steps we take each day.
So this year, instead of resolutions, I am inviting you to join me in a season of gentle realignment. I like to take the whole month of January (at least!) to refocus and realign. Let's focus on the truths that anchor us, on the scriptures that inspire us, and on the faith that guides us. And let's remember that it's okay to pause, to breathe, to process and to trust that God's plan unfolds not in grand resolutions, but in the quiet, consistent moments of realignment with His will.

For me, realignment and refocus look less like a checklist and more like daily practices—gently returning to what matters most. Here are a few ways I’m intentionally realigning in this season:
• Starting the day with God
I begin my mornings with Scripture and devotional time before the stress of the day tries to overtake me. Using the First 5 app helps me anchor my heart in truth before I engage with the world.
• Listening for God’s voice
I’m practicing solitude—creating quiet space to sit, be still, and intentionally silence my own thoughts so I can listen for God's voice.
• Focusing on faith, not fear
When fear creeps in, I’m speaking God’s truth over my life and reminding myself that He is in control. Proverbs 3:5–7 has always been a steady anchor for me.
• Letting God set the pace—not the pressure
Whenever I feel the urge to rush, strive, or become overwhelmed, I gently remind myself that I am not in a race. I can run my race with blinders on, trusting that God is directing each step. I’m being intentional about slowing down and protecting my time, because it’s so easy to let the whirlwind of the world sweep me up in what I think needs to get done.
• Trusting God for miracles
Prayer isn’t something I listed as a goal, because it’s a practice already woven into my daily life. Instead, I’m choosing to stay attentive—to watch for God’s movement, His provision, and the quiet miracles and “God moments” that show up when we’re paying attention.
Realignment doesn’t happen all at once, it's a process. Sometimes it’s simply a daily return—back to stillness, back to trust, back to God’s presence.
If you feel led, I’d love to hear: What does realignment or refocus look like for you in this season? I invite you to share in the comments below.

My realignment looks like many different things. For starters, for me, to acknowledge what it is that I need to subtract from my life. And what I need to add, what I'd like to keep from the year before and what I need to move on from.
Fasting praying and worshiping i'm giving God everything i've got and removing the distractions from my life has always helped me to reconnect redirect and realign my thinking.
Every year I give myself a word that I carry throughout the year with me and my word this year is intentional. 1. I will be intentionally spending more time with the lord.
I will be taking better care of myself. Physically and mentally, an…
